Laundered cleans up Bairnsdale rivals
May 10, 2015
The rise to 1600m produced the perfect result as Laundered strode to a brave maiden win at Bairnsdale.
The gelding had promised plenty in his previous two runs with solid efforts at Pakenham over 1200 and 1400 metres before trainer Rick Harrison stepped up Laundered to 1600m for his latest assignment.
Harrison earmarked the Tambo Waste Maiden Plate at Bairnsdale as the right race for Laundered while jockey Alan Creighton continued his partnership with the son of Hard Spun.
Creighton adopted positive tactics on Laundered, sending him across to race handy to the speed despite drawing an awkward barrier.
Laundered travelled well for Creighton midrace despite others making moves around him, which left the three-year-old plenty in hand when he began to improve from the 500m.
Laundered joined the front-runner rounding the home turn before eking out a half-length break passing the 200m.
Laundered showed staying ability as he stuck to his task in the last 150m, maintaining his effort to score a strong half-length win.
Laundered earned an $11,000 winner’s cheque for his owners but the smart performer looks set for more success in the coming months.
Congratulations to Laundered’s owners - R W H Thoroughbreds, Mr A G Nitschke, Mrs M Webb, Mr R G Webb, Mr M B Talty, Mrs C C Talty, Mr G A North, Mr S M Nielsen, Womens Business No 2, Mr A L White, Mr P G Edgcumbe, Mr S Peter-Budge, Mr M Steward, Ms V R Richards – on their terrific success.
